KAPIC Carbon Crankset

Live the lightness

We followed ROTOR athlete Simon Andreassen at the World Cup in Nove Mesto as he delivered an incredible podium performance with KAPIC Carbon's competition debut. Click to view the video

Inspired by victories

We’ve created an exceptionally light crankset to meet the highest demands of pros from the explosive pedal power required at World Cup circuits to the endurance and recovery riding of the epic marathon stage races.

The carbon edition of the KAPIC crank family is inspired by the 7 historic victories of ROTOR athletes at the legendary Cape Epic where the world’s elite riders attempt to cross the savage beauty of Africa’s off-road trails. KAPIC carbon was tested to the limit in it’s World Cup debut with elite riders from Primaflor-Mondraker-ROTOR, Absolute Absalon, Specialized Racing Team & CST Sandd Bafang under the toughest MTB conditions at Albstadt and Nove Mesto.

Manufacturing cranks from carbon fibre compliments the evolution of wider MTB bike frames, which require a very sharp opening angle of the cranks with respect to the axle. We worked tirelessly to get precise mix of lightweight carbon fibre material to meet the reliability standards we demand from ROTOR products and KAPICCarbon is available for both Boost and Super Boost chainline options in 165 mm, 170 mm and 175 mm crank lengths.

Design Focused – Carbon Technology

Each of the elegant curves and transitions of the crank's structure follow a physical intention and innumerable engineering calculations. We have analyzed all the vectors of possible forces and applied a quality control and validation process. We have put this crank through the toughest conditions to produce an elite all-mountain crankset with an incredible aesthetic result.

In the fusion of carbon and aluminum at the axle joint and pedal fitting, we tested countless carbon fibre models using a meticulous development process to reinforce the hardest wearing elements of the crank using our ROTOR Carbon technology. To achieve an extraordinary lightness, our design optimizes all the forces exerted on the cranks in powerful sprints, downhill singletrack, over drops and jumps for thousands of kilometers on the fastest epic mountain bike routes.

KAPIC carbon is the latest addition to our Direct Mount technology family that features a proprietary spline interface connecting crank arm, axle and chainring. This modular design allows simple assembly and disassembly of your crankset with only one bolt, so you can choose the perfect chainring size for any ride.

Our OCP mount technology with Q RINGS® allows you to precisely adjust your Optimal Chainring Position (OCP) and configure your unique OCP for maximum power output distinct to your pedaling style. Customize & protect your crank arms with rubber bumpers in a choice of seven stylish colors: black, blue, green, yellow, red, pink, or orange.

  • indexing in carapace
  • limit screw adjusts 12 or 13s compatibility
  • Go to Origin button drops chain to 10t cog for any trail mishaps & quick wheel changes.
  • Wider reinforced parallelogram for more positive shifting feel
  • Knurled dial lets you fine-tune by hand or with a tool.
  • Quick extract clutch release fin removes chain tension with one hand.

Cassettes:

  • Top seven cogs made of steel. Bottom six are 7-series aluminum.
  • ROTOR True Cadence gear stepping:  We worked with our pro athletes to figure out the optimal gear steps that work with riders' natural cadences. The first seven sprockets have a closer progressive sequence and the six larger sprockets offer greater increments of range.
