Team Vorarlberg On The Hunt for Results

The biggest one-day classic race in Switzerland is in Leuggeren with over 174 kilometers (about 108 mi) and almost 3000 meters (9000 feet!) of elevation gain making hard work for Rotor sponsored Team Vorarlberg going up against the numerous World Tour pros. As a warm-up for the Tour de Suisse, Lidl-Trek, BORA-Hansgrohe, Bahrain-Victorious, Jayco-Alula and many more were at the start line ready to race.

After a varied exchange of blows between the big-name riders, Belgian star Maxim van Gils (Lotto-Destyn) took out the win. Second was Italian Alberto Bettiol (EF-Education EasyPost), ahead of Roger Adria (BORA-Hansgrohe).

Racing day in, day out in Europe and looking for an upward trajectory to a higher-level team, teams such as Vorarlberg operate on a micro budget compared to the World Tour teams. Relying on local and regional talent and taking in the first-tier races to achieve results, gain valuable experience, even some tv exposure for the sponsors is all part of the race. And racing from February through October, from Northern Europe to Spain and weather that ranges from deep winter to the middle of summer in Southern Europe, the riders are subjected to the open roads

Colin Stüssi at the front after a strong performance

Colin finished 18th, just behind his former teammate Riccardo Zoidl, and for an up-and-coming hungry pro rider, Colin is showing his grit going up against the best racers in the world. While starting a semi-classic like the Grand Prix of Aargau, Team Vorarlberg can make its name known to the World Tour teams, think Major League vs Minor League, and go head-to-head with those top tier teams. Racing in those types of races raises the level of performance from riders like Colin Stussi and his team took notice.

From Vorarlberg Team Director Werner Salmen: "this performance cannot be rated highly enough, as some World Tour teams have not had a rider finish ahead of Colin. This shows his current state of form, which is on the up. Jannis Peter and Lukas also finished the race. Pirmin Benz had to retire with a defect, but we can still be satisfied with this performance here!”

For 2024,Team Vorarlberg relies on the lightweight design and accuracy of  Rotor power meters during races, training and everyday riding. See the collection and learn more of about Rotor power meters here.

Why Dual-Sided Power matters

Well, for those of us who want to go full data-nerd, it allows us to see real time info on how efficient we are being in each pedal stroke.

This may not be how you spend every ride, but access to this information allows us to get the most out of our efforts.  The quick screengrab below of the proprietary INpower app (yes, the 2INpower SL works with your head unit, but this is additional data you can pull on your phone or laptop, perfect for your rainy day trainer sessions,) shows the point of maximum power in the pedal stroke (the green line on the "peanut",) the dead spot in the pedal stroke (the waistline on the peanut,) and of course balance left & right, in addition to the normal bits of info, such as power, cadence, duration, etc.

We believe that knowledge is power (so to speak!) and our ability to change outcomes is directly related to our access to information, so we have the highest rate of read in the industry (you can read our TED talk on it here, JK about the TED part,) so YOU can have the best rides of your life & achieve your best results.
